Updating iLO 3 firmware on HP servers

Once I set up iLO on servers and noticed that when opening an interface in the browser, an SSL error occurs and the iLO web interface does not open.

See how to temporarily solve this error in my article – Solution of the iLO error “HTTP SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_ALERT”.

For example, I will use HP ProLiant DL380 G7 with old firmware iLO 3 1.10 (Jul 26 2010)

Download firmware from the official site http://www.hpe.com/support/iLO3, choosing, for example, the Windows Server operating system, as some do not display the firmware tab “Firmware”.
I also saved it for you in a zip archive here https://files.ixnfo.com/Firmware/HPE/iLO3/cp046330_ilo3_194.zip

We will unpack the downloaded archive, it should contain the firmware file with the extension *.bin, this is exactly the firmware.

Connect the cable to the iLO port, open the iLO web interface in Internet Explorer or Edge, enter the login and password (usually they are written on a sticker on the front panel of the server), on the left in the menu will open the tab “Administration” , select “iLO Firmware“, click the “Browse …” button and point to the firmware file, click “Upload” and wait for the process to complete updates.
After a successful update, iLO will automatically restart, it will not affect the server, it will work continuously.

We’ll refresh the page, you may have to clear your browser’s cache and we can enter the updated iLO.

Is done.
