How to configure DH-IPC-HFW1431S1P-S4

For example, I will set up the Dahua DH-IPC-HFW1431S1P-S4 (2.8mm) 4MP IP camera.

By default, the camera has a static IP address of 192.168.1.108

When you first connect, you must specify a password and email to recover your password.

Then I opened Network — TCP/IP — DHCP Mode and clicked Save so that the camera would receive its IP address via DHCP, and on the router itself I reserved this IP address for it and forwarded TCP port 37777 to the DVR. Src. Address specified the IP of the DVR so that the port would be open only for the NVR. If there are many IP cameras, I forwarded their port 37777 to the router port 37780, 37781, 37782, etc.

Then I opened Events — Video events — Motion detection, checked On, otherwise the camera would not record video when motion was detected, here you can also set the Area, increase the sensitivity and decrease the threshold so that the camera would respond to the slightest movement. In Recording and storage I specified the schedule only Event, so that video recording would only be performed when there is movement.

In the System menu – System update, it is better to update the firmware to get rid of possible vulnerabilities.

In the Network menu, I usually disable all unnecessary functions, such as Bonjour, ONVIF, UPnP, P2P, Multicast. With Multicast, there were cases when the camera flooded with traffic very strongly. In the System – Security menu, I also disabled unnecessary services and functions, such as Broadcast Search, SSHD, Push, Onvif.

In System – Auto functions, enable automatic reboot daily at 09:00 to reduce the likelihood of the device freezing.

I also set up automatic switching to summer and winter time in the time settings, since the time is displayed on the video and it is not good if it is behind or ahead by 1 hour. It is set up simply, on the last Sunday of March at 3:00 by 1 hour forward and on the last Sunday of October at 4:00 by 1 hour back.
