What to do if “System Settings” does not open in Ubuntu

Once I noticed that in Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 LTS, after uninstalling some installed applications through the “Ubuntu Application Center”, when you click on “System Settings”, the window with the parameters no longer opens.

To solve this problem, I ran the gnome-control-center installation command:

sudo apt-get install gnome-control-center

After that, the “System Settings” began to open, but there were only five icons.

Therefore, I installed unity-control-center:

sudo apt-get install unity-control-center

After executing the second command, the icons became larger and the “System Settings” became as before.
