Once I installed e5-2690 v2 processors in a ProLiant DL380p Gen8 server and it did not start, the CPU indicators on the front panel were orange, there were no messages in the logs in iLO, but the status displayed System Health – Critical (BIOS/Hardware Health – Failed) , updating BIOS to the latest version didn’t help.
As it turned out, ProLiant Gen8 servers do not initially support v2 processors and in order for them to start supporting, it is necessary to update the ISO file below:

To perform the update, you also need to install the processor with which the server starts, I temporarily installed one E5-2620.
Then I wrote this ISO file to a USB stick using the Universal-USB-Installer program, inserted it into the server and turned it on.
When the server booted from a USB flash drive, I pressed the ENTER key on the keyboard and waited for the update to complete, the process took 1-2 minutes.
The ISO file can also be burned to CD or mounted in iLO as a virtual CD.
During the update, do not turn off the power supply, otherwise the server may not start later.
When the update was completed and the message “UPDATE PROCESS RESULT: SUCCESS” was displayed, I shut down the server and installed the e5-2690 v2 processors. RAM I had 4 strips with a frequency of 1600 Mhz, I put them in 9 and 12 slots.
Server started successfully with e5-2690 v2 processors, my problem was resolved.
